What it does
Agentforce agents answer customers and handle tasks within set guardrails, around the clock, across self-service portals and messaging channels1. Builders configure agents, subagents, actions and instructions in Agent Builder, and Agent Script adds more precise control1. In Service Cloud pricing, Agentforce for Service is included in the Max edition and available for purchase on Core2.
- Channels
- Chat, Messaging, Voice, In-app
Handing a conversation to a person
As Salesforce documents it. Reviewers' experience of handoffs is in the shares above.
When a customer asks for a person, the agent's escalation topic runs the Omni-Channel flow configured for escalation; with custom instructions, the agent can first collect details or create a case so the person receives a conversation that is "already contextualized and verified"3. Salesforce does not list the exact fields passed to the rep3.
Controls
Safety and review features, as Salesforce documents them.
- Testing Center runs batch tests from a CSV template or AI-generated cases, up to 1,000 cases per test, and Salesforce says to run tests in a sandbox4
- Topic and action filters limit when an agent can use a topic or action, based on context variables4
- Customer verification with a one-time passcode before protected topics4
- Agent versioning lets teams test updates without disrupting the active version4
- Builders can see an agent's planned actions and test its responses in Agent Builder1
- Agentforce Observability monitors agent performance in near real time; Agent Optimizer suggests tuning changes1

Not found in public sources
We looked for these and could not find them.
- A public definition of a billed conversation
- A stated setup time
- An official list of every channel the service agent supports
- The exact data passed to a human rep at handoff
Billing
Per conversationSalesforce lists $2 per conversation for external customer agents, or Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits with 20 credits per standard action and 30 per voice action5. Service Cloud Max ($550 per user per month, billed annually) includes Agentforce for Service and 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year2.
What counts: A Flex Credits action is "a specific function that an AI agent executes on the platform"; Salesforce does not define a billed conversation on its pricing page5.
You pay even when the AI hands the customer to a person.
